The Edge On Folk is broadcast every Saturday from 8am to noon, Pacific Time, on CiTR fm 101.9 in Vancouver, and live on www.citr.ca < wherever you are. The show has been hosted by Steve Edge, more or less every week since June 1985! It is now syndicated on CHIR fm on Saltspring Island one week later on Sundays at 10am. (Their website is: chir.fm < 

Instrumentally Speaking: A good tune can speak volumes without words and without need of translation. So there were plenty of instrumentals in today's show. We started in Mali, of course, as Tinariwen are in town this evening (at UBC, in fact!) There were plenty of fabulous new releases, and a few local concert previews too. I included a few songs from the mighty pen and uniquely gravelly voice of BC songwriter Wyckham Porteous, who died suddenly last month. The show ended with a flourish of exhilarating - and mostly instrumental - music from all around the Celtic realms.
